The site old Sint Jan is situated in the historic heart of Brugge and offers a central location. The town of Brugge is located in the West-side of the Dutch-speaking part, Flanders, of Belgium, approximately 15 km away from the north-see coast. Brugge is the capital and largest town of the province West-Vlaanderen and has approximately 120.000 inhabitants.

 

The downtown is featuring a lot of small canals and bridges and is therefore referred to as the Venice of the North. The mediaeval downtown is listed as UNESCO world heritage.
Since the downtown is rather small (diameter < 3km), the venue is within walking distance from several hotels, historic buildings, exquisite museums, shops, bars and restaurants.
The site Sint Jan is the location of one of Europe’s first hospitals. The current building dates from the 19th century hospital which closed in 1976. Since then the buildings got converted into a meeting and convention center.
